Sin Always Separates Us from God

Sin always… always… separates us from God. Where once Adam and Eve walked and talked with their Creator as they strolled through the garden, now they hid in the trees. Sin cost them – and us – the close relationship mankind was created to enjoy. This chasm between sin and righteousness cannot be filled, though mankind will always try. Relationships cannot satisfy. Money will never be enough. Selfish pleasures actually widen the gap and leave us further from what makes us whole. Our spirits long for God’s presence, but our flesh cannot stand in it.

Jesus bridged the gap for our souls to enjoy righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us, “For our sake He made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Our souls long for the intimate relationship with God that was lost in the Garden of Eden. Because of Jesus, we have once again come into God’s presence. The veil was torn that separated us from the holies of holies (Mark 15:38). There is now nothing that keeps us from God’s presence except our pride and rebellion. Let’s stop hiding in the bushes. Come forth, accept Christ’s invitation and be washed clean of all sin. Believe and be separated no more.
