Only One Way to the Father
It may not be politically correct to say, but Jesus is the only way to be completely washed free from the stain of sin. Sin entered into the world while Creation still yawned in infancy. With the inception of sin in the heart of mankind, God gave us a promise of a remedy. Genesis 3:15 reveals God’s plan for humanity’s salvation. Speaking to the serpent, God said, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Only one would rise up to crush the head of the serpent. God did not say that many would rise up. He did not offer multiple pathways to the solution to mankind’s sin problem. From the very beginning, God made it clear that only one could end the curse of sin.
1 John 2:22-23 very clearly announces who that one through which salvation comes is. John writes, “Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist – he denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”
Many religions attempt to downplay Jesus’ role in God’s plan for humanity. Some claim him to have only been a prophet. Some, merely a wise teacher. Some claim him to have been nothing at all – a charlatan who deceived millions. Since there is only one way to restored righteousness, we must be careful to choose the correct way. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
Jesus gave us the only way to defeat the curse of sin. He died to open Heaven’s door to us. What will you make of his sacrifice? Salvation is freely offered, but only found in Jesus. Will you follow the masses through the wide gate or accept Jesus’ invitation to enter through the narrow and holy road that leads to life?
