More Than a Conqueror

Some days, it is hard to feel like a conqueror. Some days, we definitely feel conquered. Feelings lie. They constantly taunt us and attempted to lead us in the wrong direction. Fear whispers we are failures. Happiness distracts us with momentary pleasures. Sorrow blinds us to blessings. Feelings, a gift from God so that we can experience everything He has created for us, do not tell us the whole story. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” God works ALL things for good in the lives of people who love Him. Feelings cannot understand how sometimes the worst of times lead us to the best of times. We need to remind our feelings that this moment is not the end. When our feelings try to distract us or discourage us, we need to remind ourselves of the truth found in God’s Word. Feelings happen in the moment, but every moment is echoed by another. Just because we don’t understand how this moment could possibly be for our good, does not mean that one day we won’t understand. Tests and trials serve a purpose. They redirect us, shape us, and remind us that the God we trust is ever faithful. Don’t allow the shortsightedness of your feelings to blind you to the truth. Although in the moment we may feel defeated, remember: “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37) (Written by Keegan Harkins.)
